Disneyland Resort Halloween

Is it just me or is Halloween the most fun time at the Disneyland Resort? I’ve always loved how Disneyland is decorated for Halloween. The way the different pumpkins and Jack O’Lanterns are sprinkled through out the whole park. It hits you before you even walk in with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy pumpkins greeting you at the entrance waiting for you to enter the magical land that is Disney Halloween. The entire park is filled with pumpkins though out giving you the feeling of a nice fall day, helping you forget about that Southern California heat if only for a few moments. The giant Mickey Mouse Jack O’Lantern greats you at the top of Main Street USA before you travel down towards the castle where the Partners’ Statue of Walk and Mickey await surrounded by carved pumpkins of some of your favorite Disney animated characters. For me the best part of this time of year is the overlay at Haunted Mansion. The Nightmare Before Christmas holiday overlay is amazing and super magical. Every time I see it I’m so impressed that Disney Imagineers are able to completely transform one attraction into a brand new one is just a few days. They are able to transform the whole ride into the Tim Burton film, and it’s unique to Disneyland because the Walt Disney World version of the Haunted Mansion just stays the same all year around. The best thing about this overlay is it’s not around only for Halloween, but it stays up all the way until the beginning of the New Year. Giving a bit of Halloween magic throughout the entire Holiday season.

I’m honestly very obsessed with the way DCA has been decorated. Not only has Disney been really been giving Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas a lot of attention through out the parks with snacks and popcorn buckets, but he’s getting his very own entrance. The Oogie Boogie entrance on top of the DCA sign is beautiful during the day, and very spooky at night. The details are awesome. Oogie Boogie is sprouting out bats under a full moon, and when it’s lit up at night you can’t help but stare at it. The theme of the season also flows all the way through to Buena Vista Street. A scary Headless Horseman has replaced the fountain in front of Carthay Circle and gets more eerie throughout the evening. While bats have over taken come fluttering out of the Carthay Circle itself making DCA the perfect scary place to send your Disney day. Buena Vista Street isn’t the only thing that’s gotten a bit spooky for the season; Cars Land is also celebrating Haul-O-Ween with an all-new overlay never seen before. Not only has the land been upgraded for the season with the battery spiders and fun tire and cone faced garland, but the residents Radiator Springs are also getting into the sprit as well. Lighting McQueen is showing his super side dressed as a superhero, Matter is all decked out as an oil-sipping vampire, even the tractors are covered in gaze looking like a bunch of mummies. In honor of the new Disney and Pixar film Coco there is also area dedicated to the celebration of Día de Muertos covered with sugar skulls and authentic Mexican music and dancing. Finally, Haunted Mansion isn’t the only attraction with a new overlay. The new Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout! also has a bit more to it for the season. During the day the ride is the normal, but once the sun goes down the monsters break out and the story you thought was over after your daytime ride continues with a squeal at night with Monsters After Dark. The scary day time ride gets even more frightening at night as you try to help Rocket save Groot who got lost during your initial journey. Halloween might not be for everyone, but there is no denying Disney is the best at celebrating the season.
