Halloween Costume Revile

Every year my work gets super into Halloween, and this year is no exception! I took charge this year and held a survey between all of my coworkers. In September everyone one got to write down ideas for what they wanted to dress up as for Halloween. We had a lot of awesome suggestions, everything from Minions to Circus themes. There were obviously some Disney themes suggested on there as well, from Hocus Pocus to Nightmare Before Christmas. But, when it was time to vote a decision was ultimately made and our theme this year is going to be Disney Villains!

Now, I myself I’m very excited about this theme, and shockingly it was not my idea! But, when it was announced after all of the votes were tallied I knew exactly who I was going to be. This whole month I’ve been working hard on getting my costume ready (which I will be sharing in upcoming blogs for my Halloween blog series).

Every person will be dressing up as a different Disney Villain. We have everyone from Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians to everyone’s favorite dragon herself Maleficent. I myself choose to go with a more under rated and under appreciated villain. One who doesn’t get much love, but is probably one of the sassiest and funnier villains out there.

If you know me, you know I love The Lion King so obviously people were assuming I would be dressing up as Scar. But, Scar never even crossed my mind when coming up with this costume. All month long I’ve been teasing on social media with small bits of my costume as it’s slowly came together. People have guessed a whole bunch of characters that even with hint have been completely wrong. I’ve received guesses of a Smurf, Yzma, and someone from Nightmare Before Christmas and everyone was wrong, because this year I’m going to be HADES from Hercules.

When people think of Disney Villains he’s not usually one people think of first. However, this Halloween season he’s going to be getting a lot of love from me. Hades is such an underrated villain, and does not get the love and appreciation he deserves. He’s one of the funnier villains out there falling in towards the end of the Disney Renaissance era pre Post-Renaissance where all the Disney Villains were starting to become a little less evil and clique and a bit more kooky and witty. I think Hades has a bunch of great one-liners, and he’s the only villain who’s a God so it’s pretty obvious why he’s one of the best. Plus, he’s on fire!-literally. And the biggest perk is I get to wear a large, comfy maxi dress that makes hiding all the stolen candy that much easier!

Keeping checking back all this week as I show how I made different bits and pieces of my costume. Happy Haunting!
